My painting shows a beautiful lighthouse in northern California. I enjoy lighthouses because they stand alone and are in lonely places. Inside, they are comfortable and warm. Would I have liked to work there as my profession? Probably not, but I still love to paint them.
palm trees bask in the sun in the Coachella Valley in southern California. This
scene is a view from the Palm Springs area looking west toward the San Jacinto mountain
range. Brilliant watercolors and loose art style highlight this simple outdoor
My loose little sketch reminds us all that the baseball season is in
full swing again. For baseball fans, it’s a long season—from April to October.
Every sport is more fun if you have several favorite teams like I do. The Padres,
Angels, Dodgers, Giants and Athletics are my favorites. Our Sacramento River
Cats are fun to watch also and the venue is perfect on a warm summer evening.

trees frame a house on a hill in the distance. The weird branches and limbs
were formed by blowing blobs of watercolor through a straw. The watercolor
scatters into patterns which make them look like branches and limbs. Nice
effect but the artist has very little control. Ink and watercolor.

somewhere in the USA. Reflective puddles of water are a reminder that a storm
passed through the area during the night. Ink and watercolor.
cactus plants dot the desert landscape. Any variety of this plant is easy to
detect. Sizes range from a few inches to 40-50 feet in height. Grab an ink pen

corner bar or tavern is where the locals meet on a street where there is
nothing but taverns, liquor stores and upstairs apartments. If I owned a bar I
would name it Nagoo’s. This scene could probably fit into any city or town in
the USA. Maybe this reminds you of some establishments in your city. Ink and watercolor.
sketch shows a colorful autumn view of Central Park in the center of the New
York City. City buildings rise above the trees in the background. This is a
small sketch done in preparation for a large painting I plan to do in the
future. Ink and watercolor.
family reunion vacation years ago, we stayed at a bed and breakfast facility
near Cabot, Vermont. The surrounding lawns and gardens were decorated with
items like this. I had some time to do some rough sketches and take photos.
When I arrived back home I completed this painting. Ink and watercolor. SOLD
When I was young, bicycles looked like this. We drove them into the
ground and it seemed like everyone had one. Learning to ride one was a major
step in growing up. You were not a little kid anymore once you could ride a
bicycle. My painting was requested by a friend. She used this image on party
invitations for her cycling group. Ink
When we hear the name Matterhorn we may think of the ride at
Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This ride was probably named after the real
thing which is a beautiful mountain peak located near the border of Switzerland
and Italy. It is a thing of beauty and is a challenge for only experienced
mountain climbers to conquer. For an artist, it is a dream to paint.
