Mt. Hood, Oregon

Mt. Hood is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Portland, Oregon. It is over 11,000 feet in elevation and is the highest point in the state. Oregon has a string of beautiful mountains which run north and south through the middle. While in the city of Portland, one cannot miss this huge mountain while looking eastward. Ink and watercolor.

Happy Plump Goldfish

This little goldfish has the freedom to swim as much as it wants. As long as it gets some food each day, it will swim happily for the enjoyment of its owners in a fancy, clean aquarium. Ink and watercolor.

November Morning

My painting depicts an early morning scene in a wooded area as the first rays of light appear. Mornings are now cool and the waters are very still beneath the trees. The scene is very quiet and the birds have not yet begun to chirp. A hint of rain from the previous night’s rain lingers. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Creek Bed And Bridge

Imagine a summer day, mid-afternoon, very hot, no breeze, high creek waters are gone and only a trickle of water remains. This is what it is like where I live. It was actually comfortable where I was sitting when I painted this. Since we have had a very welcomed, rainy winter, I look forward to warmer weather ahead. Ink and watercolor.

If You Like Swamps

….then these paintings may get your juices flowing. Swamps can be mysterious and beautiful. Viewing these paintings is as close as I want to be to them. Ink and watercolor.

Sunrise And Water

Beautiful sunrise appears over water and land. Looks like it is low tide by the number of boulders showing. Ink and watercolor.

Meandering River

As birds would see it, a river meanders through a peaceful, green valley showing blue mountains in the background. Colorful sky reflects off the river waters. Ink and watercolor.

Calm Morning

Pleasant sunlight, calm waters, and colorful trees make up this very simple watercolor painting.

Peaceful Morning

A lone deer enjoys the serenity in its forest home. It is surrounded by huge trees, a rushing creek and lush, green grasses. The rays of the sun warm its body as it remains on alert for any hidden dangers. Ink and watercolor.

Morning View

The sun is rising over this peaceful water scene. The steep mountains indicate this painting is in a place like Vietnam where ocean waters snake through the mountain gorges. Fishing boats dot the waters. The waters are calm. Soon the day will be hot and humid. Enjoy this watercolor painting.

Early Morning

Misty skies add to this serene scene near a lake's edge. It is early in the morning and all is quiet. The sun will soon appear as it fights its way through the damp mist. The water is cool and still. There is very little noise. Creatures are there but are quiet. Fish pluck the water's surface causing barely a ripple. Ink and watercolor.

A Little Waterfall

A cold stream of water rushes over the cliff and comes crashing down to the rocks below. The beauty of the rocks adds nice color to the landscape. The sense of solitude is immense and is something only this artist may feel. Enjoy my painting. Ink and watercolor.

Another Swamp

I finally completed the last of three paintings as part of my " fling with swamps". I posted my first painting, titled Colorful Swamp, on May 4, 2009. Another swamp painting which is the sister to this one was posted on December 15, 2011. All three are on a wall in our guest bedroom and make a nice graphic display. In this painting, there is limited space for boats but tons of beauty with a hint of danger for the unknown. Ink and watercolor.

Colored Fish

During the holidays, I did some playing with underwater scenes. I did two or three under-the-water paintings where I used maskoid then added layers of washes. The fish who are swimming appear to have something in sight. These were drawn and painted with no real fish in mind--it's easier that way. There are times when I play only--this was one of those times. Enjoy my colorful, experimental creation. Ink and watercolor.

Beautiful Swamp

Colorful swamps in the southeast USA offer a maze of trees and murky waters to enjoy. The trees are OK but the critter-infested waters are a little iffy. During the day this swamp is beautiful. I do not think I would like to be here at night. Ink and watercolor.

Riding The American River

Now that we have cold weather, I've posted a hot weather scene to remind you that summer will return in about six months where we can enjoy the outdoors again. This scene shows river rafters meandering down the American River in northern California. These canyons are very warm but the water is refreshingly cool. Ink and watercolor.

A Cluster Of Colored Boats

Colorful little row boats are shown floating idly and empty near a dock on the shore of a lake. There was junk in the boats but I eliminated the clutter inside each of them. Ink and watercolor.
