Autumn Color

I am looking up into the trees on this nice autumn day. The sun is shining through the leaves showing more colors than the eye can imagine. Soon the leaves will be gone and bare limbs and trunks will show clearly. Winter is next. Ink and watercolor.

Healthy looking trees grow amongst the rocks on a slope in hill country. Slant of the trees show that the area gets some good winds which cause them to lean. Ink and watercolor.

November Morning

My painting depicts an early morning scene in a wooded area as the first rays of light appear. Mornings are now cool and the waters are very still beneath the trees. The scene is very quiet and the birds have not yet begun to chirp. A hint of rain from the previous night’s rain lingers. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Barns And Trees 2

Simple farm yard scene #2. These old wooden structures have lasted through all kinds of weather and still store farm equipment, feed and miscellaneous items for the owners. This is a flip-flop version from my last post titled Barnes And Trees 1. Ink and watercolor.

Morning Trees

The sun's rays creep through the huge trees in this early morning forest scene. All is quiet except for the birds beginning to chirp and critters scurrying through the dense underbrush. Ink and watercolor

A Tropical Beach

Scenes like this remind me of what a perfect vacation spot would look like. With lots of sun we see fresh looking trees, beautiful tropical waters and green/brown hills as a background. A special bonus is that we notice there is no trash and no people. Complete solitude. Relax and enjoy this vacation scene. Ink and watercolor.

New Mexico Back Country

My country landscape painting is an impression of what I consider to be typical in the state of New Mexico in the USA. You see lots of wide open country with long stretches of lonely highways, shrubs, trees and even hefty mountain ranges. If it’s open territory you like, New Mexico has it. Ink and watercolor.

If You Like Swamps

….then these paintings may get your juices flowing. Swamps can be mysterious and beautiful. Viewing these paintings is as close as I want to be to them. Ink and watercolor.

Playing With Art

Sometimes it's fun to try different tools and ideas when painting. This sample was done on a recent rainy day using a variety of ink pens and my small watercolor travel kit and water brushes on watercolor paper.

Blue House

Funky trees frame a house on a hill in the distance. The weird branches and limbs were formed by blowing blobs of watercolor through a straw. The watercolor scatters into patterns which make them look like branches and limbs. Nice effect but the artist has very little control. Ink and watercolor.

New York Skyline

My sketch shows a colorful autumn view of Central Park in the center of the New York City. City buildings rise above the trees in the background. This is a small sketch done in preparation for a large painting I plan to do in the future. Ink and watercolor.

In The Jungle

Fishing boats and people dot the shores of this ocean inlet where a tiny village sits nestled at the base of hills and is surrounded by trees. Seems like the people may not enjoy a very exciting life style but maybe there is not much stress either. Ink and watercolor.

Night Snow

Snow falls in a small town on a cold wintery night. It must be cold since no people are out enjoying a quiet walk. On nights like this it’s nice to be relaxing inside a nice warm home. Ink and watercolor.

A Forest Path

A path snakes its way through trees and shrubs that are gleaming with autumn colors in a congested forest. Soon, all the leaves will drop and branches will be naked and ready for cold winter temperatures. Watercolor. SOLD

Color Change

This time of the year, the leaves on the trees begin to change their colors. The colorful trees will soon be bare. This change lets us know that winter is coming up. Let’s hope this winter brings lots of snow to the mountains and plenty of rain to the valley. Ink and watercolor. SOLD
