Barren Hills

There is some beauty in this parched, arid scene of hills and mountains which could be from the deserts in southwest California. No green from plants or trees show this area gets very little rainfall.

Mt. Hood, Oregon

Mt. Hood is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Portland, Oregon. It is over 11,000 feet in elevation and is the highest point in the state. Oregon has a string of beautiful mountains which run north and south through the middle. While in the city of Portland, one cannot miss this huge mountain while looking eastward. Ink and watercolor.

New Mexico Back Country

My country landscape painting is an impression of what I consider to be typical in the state of New Mexico in the USA. You see lots of wide open country with long stretches of lonely highways, shrubs, trees and even hefty mountain ranges. If it’s open territory you like, New Mexico has it. Ink and watercolor.

Southwest USA

This ink and watercolor sketch displays a sprawling vista of desert, river and mountains in the southwest section of the USA. This could be a scene from the states of Arizona, New Mexico or maybe Utah. You decide. Maybe you have been here.

Quiet Valley

Cows relax in a beautiful valley they call “home” where mountains and pine trees liven up the background. Looks like mother nature has been kind to this luscious countryside.

Meandering River

As birds would see it, a river meanders through a peaceful, green valley showing blue mountains in the background. Colorful sky reflects off the river waters. Ink and watercolor.

Valley Of Water

Water from a lake backs up into a valley between some mountains and hills. Reflections on the quiet waters duplicate the spectacular sky. Watercolor

When we hear the name Matterhorn we may think of the ride at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This ride was probably named after the real thing which is a beautiful mountain peak located near the border of Switzerland and Italy. It is a thing of beauty and is a challenge for only experienced mountain climbers to conquer. For an artist, it is a dream to paint.

Morning View

The sun is rising over this peaceful water scene. The steep mountains indicate this painting is in a place like Vietnam where ocean waters snake through the mountain gorges. Fishing boats dot the waters. The waters are calm. Soon the day will be hot and humid. Enjoy this watercolor painting.

Autumn Afternoon

I hope you enjoy my stylized and colorful landscape painting of autumn trees with green and brown hills filling the background. I put in an ominous sky for more interest. Sometimes, fantasy is fun to paint. Ink and watercolor.

Blue Mountains

This scene looks cold as winter appears to be near. The blue mountains are not covered with heavy snow yet. Snow has fallen already as shown in the foreground. River water looks cold and still. A snow storm could be here soon. Watercolor. SOLD

Country Lake

A beautiful sunrise brightens this lake and surrounding countryside as early morning will soon give way to a spectacular day. Clouds in the eastern sky are illuminated by the sun and reflect on the still lake waters which have barely a ripple in the calm. I had recently framed this watercolor painting and soon after, it was purchased. SOLD

Beyond The Trees

Very simple painting of a view of snow-covered mountains as seen thru the greenery of pine trees and shrubs. This scene is typical of a view of the Sierra Nevada mountains looking eastward from Auburn, California. Watercolor.

Mt. Whitney California

This is an image of my latest commission done in December 2012. During my last art show in November, a women asked if I did commissions similar to the two mountain images I had on display. She contacted me later and had me do this painting of Mt. Whitney which is located in the southern part of California. The gift was for her mother-in-law for Christmas who had climbed this mountain.
Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Night Lights

This night scene somewhere over snow-covered mountains is highlighted by the aurora borealis which lights the sky. This quiet scene typifies a cold winter night that could be someplace like Canada. Wherever it is these lights make for a beautiful setting.

California Beauty

Located in northern California, Mt. Shasta is seen by all as it looms at the southern end of the Cascade Range at 14,179 feet in elevation. This mountain is relatively isolated from other peaks which helps make it very noticeable to passersby. It offers a beautiful site for travelers on Interstate 5 and Amtrak railroad passengers. This is a volcano and experts say the last eruption took place at least two centuries ago. Ink and watercolor.
