California Golden Hills

Golden hills surrounding the California valleys look very dry during the warm months. In winter and spring the grasses are green. In summer and fall the grasses are golden as shown in my painting.

Golden Hills Of California

These golden hills are beautiful. In summer, the dry grasses surround the green oak trees providing an interesting contrast to thousands of acres of green crops growing on the valley floor. After the winter rains, the grasses then change to stunning greens until the heat of summer changes the colors back again. It's an annual cycle that never ends. Ink and watercolor.

Two Barns

At times, it's fun to change the way I normally paint and do something different. Bold lines and vivid colors make up this rural painting. I found the painting was easy to do since everything does not look real so I did not need to be exact. I will try this style again one of these days. Ink and watercolor.

Valley Of Water

Water from a lake backs up into a valley between some mountains and hills. Reflections on the quiet waters duplicate the spectacular sky. Watercolor

In The Jungle

Fishing boats and people dot the shores of this ocean inlet where a tiny village sits nestled at the base of hills and is surrounded by trees. Seems like the people may not enjoy a very exciting life style but maybe there is not much stress either. Ink and watercolor.

Hills, Trees And Rocks

Rocks and wild grasses fill in the empty spaces for these trees that have grown on these rolling hills. It's interesting why so many small rocks would be on these hills. This painting displays an interesting palette of browns, grays and greens. Ink and watercolor.
