Autumn Color

I am looking up into the trees on this nice autumn day. The sun is shining through the leaves showing more colors than the eye can imagine. Soon the leaves will be gone and bare limbs and trunks will show clearly. Winter is next. Ink and watercolor.

Morning Trees

The sun's rays creep through the huge trees in this early morning forest scene. All is quiet except for the birds beginning to chirp and critters scurrying through the dense underbrush. Ink and watercolor

A Forest Path

A path snakes its way through trees and shrubs that are gleaming with autumn colors in a congested forest. Soon, all the leaves will drop and branches will be naked and ready for cold winter temperatures. Watercolor. SOLD

Peaceful Morning

A lone deer enjoys the serenity in its forest home. It is surrounded by huge trees, a rushing creek and lush, green grasses. The rays of the sun warm its body as it remains on alert for any hidden dangers. Ink and watercolor.

Fantasy Forest

This abstract experiment turned into something I feel represents a forest of sorts. I used lots of colors and played with a little wet-in-wet along with some dry brush strokes. As I got into the painting, the more it looked like trees, branches and trunks. Enjoy my fantasy forest. Watercolor.

Moonlit Forest

I developed this night scene using Sharpies, Rapidographs and watercolors to denote the stillness of a late spring evening high in the mountains. This is done very simply with thick and thin strokes, some detailed pine branches which one would not actually see at this distance and an unreal moon glow. Mountains in the background were not filled in totally which allowed color to peek through. It's fun to play like this. Ink and watercolor.

The Edge Of Color

Two deer graze peacefully in an opening on a meadow next to a densely populated forest. The greenery of trees in the foreground is framed by the color of the leaves in the background trees. In this painting, I played with masking out all of the tree trunks then came back and painted the trunks in various shades as needed. This is the time of year that trees do their amazing change once again. Some trees keep their leaves, some trees change to beautiful colors before they drop their leaves for the winter ahead. Ink and watercolor.
