When They Used Cabooses

Recently, I did this railroad scene showing the once-familiar caboose at the end of a steam powered freight train. I am thinking many of you may never have heard of a caboose. But I do remember them and I always thought how great it would have been to work and ride in one. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

From North Dakota

Recently, we were in the state of North Dakota near Grand Forks. There are many small towns in this state-I mean really small. From photos I took, I painted this grain elevator complex in Larimore, a small town west of Grand Forks. These structures are located all over the state and are near railroad tracks so their products can be carried away. These elevators are very noticeable as they stand tall above very flat countryside called the Great Plains. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Morning View

The sun is rising over this peaceful water scene. The steep mountains indicate this painting is in a place like Vietnam where ocean waters snake through the mountain gorges. Fishing boats dot the waters. The waters are calm. Soon the day will be hot and humid. Enjoy this watercolor painting.

California Poppies

When we see the poppies flooding the countryside, we know it’s spring time. My painting was inspired by the many poppies that bloomed in the foothills after a less-than-normal rainy season. When the poppies bloom we know that winter has gone and warmer days are ahead. Ink and watercolor.
