Living High

Somebody built some beautiful bird houses on a platform up high near some tree branches. A lone bird appears to be pondering which house he might want to live in. I hope he makes up his mind soon because there are a lot of other birds who would die to live in a nice neighborhood like this one. Ink and watercolor.

Old Santa Fe Station

An old passenger train leaves a small Santa Fe station in the late afternoon. This image was during a time when railroad travel was big. The train is just departing the old station in a quiet town somewhere in the southwest USA. A few people remain as they watch their friends scoot away to their destinations. The guy in the sombrero is sitting there just because he likes to see trains come and go. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Caribbean Villa

This is a quick sketch done on an airplane as we traveled home from Oregon last September. The subject was in a magazine in an article about tropical living. My artwork was sketched in a new art journal purchased on my trip. Watercolor was added at home. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Barn With Shed

Along Highway 193 between Lincoln and Newcastle north of Sacramento, there are some open spaces where an old barn sits like the large one in this painting. Because I felt the painting needed more interest, I made the barn larger, added some people along with a smaller shed. The trees were spotty in the background so I added a much thicker mass of trees. When an artist changes everything it really becomes his own painting. Ink and watercolor.
