Sago Palms

This little cluster of Sago Palms looks out of place at this plant farm. For some reason, these palms were planted here and provide more beauty than function. I tried to use the simplest of strokes in this artwork and the palm leaves ended up looking much simpler than the real thing. This is now framed and hanging in our living room. 11" x 14" ink and watercolor.

A Hint Of The Old West

An old structure still stands on the plains near the mountains. I have no idea if this was somebody's home or if this was part of an old town. Whatever It was it remains very lonely, beautiful and serene. Part of the beauty of this landscape is that the far mountains are in sunlight while the near mountains have only little traces of sun. 11" x 14" ink and watercolor.

Yosemite Valley Floor

We attended a banquet in Fresno last October. The day after the event our friends drove us to Yosemite which I had never seen. It is a beautiful area and we had a great time. We saw the views from above and then the views from the valley floor. One spectacular view is shown here. It is from the Ahwahnee Hotel looking up at the mountain behind it. The mountain is actually much taller but I slightly shortened it to fit the painting space. 11" x 14", ink and watercolor.

Mountain Oasis

Water seeps down a mountain to form a pool that allows a few trees to grow near a rock cropping. A cool mountain oasis was formed. This scene is in the mountains at the Anza Borrego desert in southern California which is a very dry area. The palm trees have grown there because they are native to this desert terrain. 11" x 14", ink and watercolor.

San Francisco Landmarks

This painting captures a distant view of two of San Francisco's outstanding landmarks. While it appears the Transamerica Pyramid building (pointed structure) is immediately behind the Coit Tower structure it actually is a good distance away. 11" x 14" ink and watercolor.
