Color Village

Using a watercolor pouring technique for the background, I developed this image of a village on top of a hill. After I sketched the buildings, roads and trees I poured the very runny watercolors all over the paper and tilted the paper so the colors would run together. When very dry, I went over my sketched lines in ink. This is fun to do and the results are very interesting. Ink and watercolor.

The Wine Farm

A farm house is buried between the hilly rows of grape vines in this scene I call The Wine Farm. Somewhere on this location there may be a winery or maybe they just sell the grapes for others to process. It is a beautiful location. The only boundries are where the vineyards end. Sacramento Caboose

This ink and watercolor painting shows a classic old caboose located in old Sacramento. This beautiful little classic is a charming memory of the famous "end of the train" in railroad lore.

While visiting one day, I took many photos at this tourist area. This caboose has always caught my eye and I wanted to draw it. I did most of this work at home using photo references.

Night In The City

Night scenes can be difficult to paint. This ink and watercolor depicts a city at night somewhere. All the bright areas were highlighted as if lights were shining on them. I put the major elements you would find in the city--buildings, a park area, traffic and people. Ink and watercolor.

La Provence Restaurant

The La Provence restaurant is located in the northern part of the city of Roseville. It is an elegant place to dine in a superb location surrounded by huge oak trees. Each month I co-teach a four hour class at this location in a private room. It's an excellent venue.

Last summer I went out to this location to draw this beautiful building. It was very warm that day but luckily I was there in the early AM. Currently, this painting is hanging in our home. Ink and watercolor.

Desert Travel

An early morning view reveals a journey into the desert. A car is going and a truck is coming in this scene. Morning is one of the nicest times in the desert. Even on a pending hot day, the mornings are still mighty refreshing. Ink and watercolor.

Oak At Sunset

A large oak tree is seen as the sun goes down on the horizon. The last colorful glimpse of a long day provides a nice sunset scene. Ink and watercolor. SOLD

Awesome Lighthouse

Lighthouses are super icons and are common place for those who live near the oceans. For those of us who do not live near oceans, we stand in awe when we see these structures--at least I do.

This painting shows a collection of buildings in back of the actual lighthouse. These are the living quarters and equipment rooms for those who run the facility. I hope you enjoy this powerhouse of coastal waters. Ink and watercolor. SOLD
