My Brilliant Cardinal

My brilliant red cardinal looks freshly scrubbed from being caught out in a rainstorm. He has dried off and is ready for an exciting day. I think this is one of the prettiest birds and I wish they flew around my part of the woods. Ink and watercolor.

Courtyard Entrance

This peaceful scene shows a neat little entrance into the courtyard to a southwestern residence. This artwork fits an 8" x 10" mat and will be presented at my next art exhibit on May 9. Attractive note cards of this image will also be on sale. Ink and watercolor.

Focused Fish

These fish are focused on something ahead of them and look like they know exactly where they are going. I do not know the type of fish they are but they are colorful. Fish look like they are hypnotized but seem to always be content in their lives. Ink and watercolor.

Golden Autumn

The afternoon sun bathes these colorful trees in warmth as a full array of brilliance is displayed.This scene is late autumn and soon the winds, rain and snow will drop all the remaining leaves before winter. Ink and watercolor.

Sidewalk Cafe

A busy scene shows people at a sidewalk cafe enjoying a casual day by eating, drinking and chatting. The industrious young boy is taking advantage by giving shoe shines while people relax. The guy in the yellow shirt wearing the shades in the left side of this painting is a detective on the trail of someone. Ink and watercolor.

Countryside

This is a very quick sample of what can be done rapidly to pass some idle time. This is a simple scene taken from a photograph and the location is somewhere in Southeast Asia. I love the mountains. These countries get lots of rain and the mountains are covered with foliage.

Wild Flowers

A collection of wild flowers is shown that you may find anywhere during the spring when everything has lots of water and warm sunshine. This art is merely a collection of flowers and stalks put to paper -- not from a photo or from the midst of a pasture. It is not linked to anything except what's in my mind. Ink and watercolor.

Old Sacramento Paint Out

I had an open Saturday in March and participated in a "Third Saturday" paint out in old town Sacramento orchestrated by David Peterson. The day was beautiful. I arrived early to find a parking spot. Slowly, artists began to arrive and find their spots to begin painting. David was painting to my left looking down the street. You can see his version from that day if you link to his site.

Unfortunately, a huge SUV pulled in right in front of us and parked. I included the vehicle in my painting but de-emphasized it.

I believe there were about 35 artists painting that day. It was amazing to see all the different styles of artwork in various mediums. It was a great day and I hope to attend another paint out soon.

An Abstract Village

Sometimes I go abstract. This is one of those times. I used mask out materials which included tape, paper reinforcements and other odds and ends. Hopefully, you can see the items that make up my village image. Ink and watercolor.
