This Germ Scared Me

When I was a little boy, I believed these creatures were germs so I really tried to stay away from them. They didn't look harmful but somehow I got it in my head they would make me sick.

After a long time, when I saw other children playing with them and seeing they did not get sick, I overcame my fear of these harmless lady bugs--and also because all my little friends called me a "chicken". Ink and watercolor.

This is a lovely watercolour and the story behind it made me smile. Funny the ideas we have as children.

However, its still a bug, and I don't do bugs. :)

Wonderful little "germ" and great story behind it

Nice ladybug! I wonder if kids still say: Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home.

I agree with Nancy, the vivd blue shadow is very eye catching. I liked your little story too to accompany the simple study of a ladybird/ladybug (depending on which side of the puddle you're from!) Nice work :)

Thanks for all the nice comments. The blue does look nice against the yellow orange.

You're not alone! I had loads of misconceptions when I was a kid. For instance, I thought "the end of the week" meant the "end of the world," when I was little.
