A Starbucks Sketch

When all else fails, paint a coffee cup. It's easy and cups are generally available. This is a loose sketch of a very familiar type-- a Starbucks cup. This is a reminder to me of all the Starbucks shops I have had coffee in around the country and the world. I enjoy going into any Starbucks to smell and enjoy the coffee. Ink and watercolor.

Ah, the simple things around us. What really makes this sketch for me is the loose background and the pink/peach color on the cup. Oh, and the shadow of the handle. Very nice touch.

I love this! Your watercolors are greatly inspiring. I really like the colors you used, pulling from Starbucks' logo, I'm sure. It just seems a different type of subject matter from you...I'm used to landscapes and buildings!

I have been away and missed several entries, checked and all of great, the colors beautiful.

Chey--

Thank you for your nice comment about my watercolors. I try to do all subjects when I paint. I still have a fondness for trains as I did when I was a small boy. I also remember when I was a student in college and how much I looked forward to all of my art classes. I hope you enjoy your classes and college life as I did. Come back and visit my site soon.
