A Visit To Monument Valley

I have finalized this larger painting in preparation for our association's Fine Art Show scheduled for February 2009. Monument Valley is a beautiful area located in SE Utah and NE Arizona, It is not a true valley but an area of pinnacles and buttes that rise as much as 1,000 feet above the desert floor.

The movie industry has filmed many movies here because of the picturesque red and orange sandstone, siltstone, and shale
landscapes. This is now in a 19" x 23" frame and ready for the show. Ink and watercolor.

Nice work Terry. I am a big fan of all those old westerns that I grew up with. I've never been to Utah but those butes are a recognizable sight.

Stephan, Jean--Thanks for viewing my site and taking time to comment. I also like to watch old westerns that I grew up with--even the old black and whites. But, I always wondered where the beautiful countrysides were in the movies.

I like this painting a lot. Great colors and penwork. In mine opinion it looks enlarged at its best.

Fantastic, Terry. Two years ago I went with my family there. It´s one of my favorites places in the world.
