Rural Sidetracks
Quiet little sidings allow excess freight cars, old cabooses and any other railroad equipment a safe place to be stored out of the way of main traffic. These pieces of machinery withstand the elements as they rust away and endure a slow death. We used to board these old cars to play "train" when we were kids. We would come home with scrapes, cuts, sprained ankles and torn pants after playing on these huge toys. 11" x 14" ink and watercolor.

Good times! When I was a boy, I couldn't resist to walk around an old train shed, between freight cars but also a few passenger coaches and sometimes a couple of rusty steam engines. I must confess that even my father joined me sometimes :-)
Thank you for this work and the revival of such good memories!
Always great to come by here. Another great scene with beautiful understated colors.
Memories of youth! Their unfortunate demise. Lovely watercolour! Cheers :o)
Thank you all for your comments. I still wander around train stations, watch for Amtrak to come by and still love old railroad cars on sidings.
